The AT-222D2 is the next evolution of the highly acclaimed AT-222D "8I-II0 Distortion," preserving the powerful distortion character and musical response that made the original a favorite among guitarists.

Developed for Akira Takasaki of LOUDNESS, the AT-222D2 delivers rich harmonics, outstanding articulation, smooth sustain, and exceptional dynamic response. Whether used into a clean amplifier as the primary source of distortion or integrated into a professional stage rig, it provides the touch sensitivity, feel, and expressive control demanded by serious players.

While preserving the signature sound of the original AT-222D, the new AT-222D2 incorporates structural refinements that do not affect tone, a completely redesigned PCB layout, and carefully reviewed component selections to further improve consistency and long-term reliability.

In an era where prices continue to rise, we have chosen a different path. The AT-222D2 is offered at a lower price than its predecessor while maintaining the same commitment to sound quality, craftsmanship, and performance that players expect from Cat'sFACTORY.

Advance reservations for this model are expected to begin in July 2026.

International sales through the Cat'sFACTORY online store, including shipments to the United States and Australia, are scheduled to resume with this release.

Notes

• Photos shown are of a prototype or pre-production sample. The production model will feature a Matte Army Green finish.

• For enhanced noise shielding, paint has intentionally been removed from selected grounding contact points, including the backplate screw holes and internal tooth lock washer contact surfaces.

• Each enclosure is individually hand-finished. Minor cosmetic variations between units are a natural result of the manufacturing process and do not affect performance.

• Serial numbers cannot be selected or reserved.

• The silver component shown in the INPUT jack position on the sample unit is a temporary test fixture used during development and is not included with the production model.

• The AT-222D "8I-II0 Distortion" will continue to be available as a regular production model.

•Due to aviation regulations, the unit cannot be shipped with the battery installed; it is shipped with the battery detached. If you wish to operate the unit using the battery, please provide one yourself.
